What is NIOS ?


National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has become the largest institute of open schooling in India. Students who couldn't continue their education due to any problem or who can't go to regular school, they prefer NIOS board to complete their education, NIOS Admission Stream 1, National Institute of Open Schooling being an open board , they have their headquarter in Noida Uttar Pradesh.


How can students learn under NIOS?

NIOS provides the option of an online education system for some courses under which a candidate can attend online classes through video conferencing, read study material online, submit assignments online, interact with teachers online and can even appear in online examinations.


Eligibility Criteria For NIOS Admission Stream 1

A learner who has passed class 8th and has a valid proof of having attained the age of 14 years can apply for registration in the secondary course.


The learner who gives a self certificate saying "I have studied and able to pursue secondary course" is also eligible for admission to secondary course.


Required Documents For NIOS Admission Stream 1

Class 10th:

  • 6 current passport size color photograph

  • A valid ID proof (Aadhaar card or passport, etc.)

  • Signature (use only black ink)

  • Valid Date of Birth (DOB) Proof (Birth Certificate or Aadhar Card with DOB printed on it)

  • Class 8th mark sheet or self-certificate is necessary for class 10th students.

  • Valid Residence Proof (Aadhaar Card with full address printed on it/Ration Card/Valid Passport/Water Bill/Rent Agreement)

  • Social Category / Caste Certificate (A student belongs to SC / ST / OBC social category)

  • Ex-serviceman certificate (if a student is an ex-serviceman)

  • Failed marksheet of previous board, failing which Transfer of Credit (TOC) marks will not be updated in NIOS result.

Class 12th:

  • 6 current passport size color photograph (6 copies)

  • Signature (use only black ink)

  • Valid Date of Birth (DOB) Proof (Birth Certificate or Aadhar Card with DOB printed on it)

  • A valid ID proof (Aadhaar card or passport, etc.)

  • Class 10th marksheet for class 12th students.

  • Valid Residence Proof (Aadhaar Card with full address printed on it / Ration Card / Valid Passport / Water Bill / Rent Agreement) Social Category / Caste Certificate (A student belongs to SC / ST / OBC social category )

  • Disability certificate (if there is a condition of disability)

  • Ex-serviceman certificate (if a student is an ex-serviceman)

  • Failed marksheet of previous board, failing which Transfer of Credit (TOC) marks will not be updated in NIOS result.
